Paint Makes the Decade Leap From Disco to Designer
I recently moved into a 1920’s bungalow that had been “updated” with 1970’s
dark wood cabinets, paneling, and imitation wood linoleum. I had an extremely
limited budget, but wanted to brighten and update the room.
After removing the cabinet hardware, I primed the cabinets with KILZ
Premium® primer and painted them with KILZ® Casual
Colors® Bright White paints. The room instantly looked brighter.
Peeling back the tulip wallpaper and paneling proved to be quite a chore, but
after some drywall repair, I painted the walls a bright red and added red and
white toile curtains on windows. Although wood or tile would have been the
preferred flooring option, “peel and stick” laminate squares still looked good.
For less than $500 our kitchen jumped forward three decades, and became the
gathering place of our home. It’s amazing what color can do!
